Pokémon Smash being replaced with Pokémon Get☆TV, Pocket Monsters: The Origin run time revealed
Back in 2010 when Pokémon Black and White were released on the Nintendo DS, the weekly Japanese variety show Pokémon Sunday was replaced with Pokémon Smash, which featured a near identical show format and line-up of hosts. Now that we are due to begin a new generation of Pokémon again with the October 12 worldwide launch of Pokémon X and Y, it has been revealed that in honor of that, Pocket Monsters: The Origin and TV Tokyo's 50th anniversary, the Pokémon Smash show will be receiving a new re-branding. From Oct. 6, the show will be known as Pokémon Get☆TV.
Regular host Shoko Nakagawa is confirmed as returning to the show, where she will be joined by newcomers Takahiro Suzuki, Toshikazu Miura and Yukito Nishi. Suzuki and Miura are known for being the comedy duo "Taka and Toshi".
TV Tokyo have also revealed that the upcoming TV special Pocket Monsters: The Origin will be airing from 7 p.m. until 8:49 p.m. on Oct. 2. As the name implies, the special goes back to the beginning of the franchise, following the journey of Red (Junko Takeuchi) from the original Pokémon Red and Green games.
